About the Programme

"Sustainable Agrosystems for Quality Mediterranean Foods" is a Joint Master programme co-organised by the Department of Food Science and Technology of the University of the Peloponnese (Greece), the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Sciences of the University of Palermo (Italy), and the Department of Food Industries of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (Portugal).

The programme awards a Joint Master of Science (MSc) degree corresponding to Level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework, in accordance with Article 47 of Law 4763/2020.

Programme Structure

The programme spans four academic semesters and corresponds to 120 ECTS. Each semester carries 30 ECTS. The first three semesters consist of taught courses (lectures and laboratories), while the fourth semester is dedicated to the Master Thesis and Traineeship.

A minimum of 75% of the credit units (90 ECTS) must be completed through in-person attendance. Each semester is hosted at one of the three partner institutions, meaning students relocate between countries each semester for the first three semesters.

All courses, examinations, seminars, and the Master Thesis are conducted entirely in English.

Teaching Methods

The educational process of each course may include one or more of the following formats: lectures, seminars, laboratory and practical exercises, distance learning sessions, individual or group assignments, educational visits, and thesis preparation.

Attendance at all educational activities is compulsory. Students must attend at least 75% of each course's hours in order to be eligible for examination.

Assessment

Students are assessed through written or oral examinations held at the end of each semester, complemented by coursework, assignments, and laboratory performance as specified in each course syllabus. The Master Thesis is examined by a three-member committee in a public defence.

Academic Calendar

The academic calendar for each semester — including course schedules, examination periods, registration deadlines, and holidays — is published on the programme's website before the start of each semester.

Each student is assigned a personal Academic Advisor upon enrolment. The Advisor supports students throughout their studies, offering guidance on course selection, academic performance, thesis topic, career prospects, and any personal matters that may affect their studies.
